Last Friday afternoon, menswear designer and Social Primer author K. Cooper Ray held a rather genteel presentation for the launch of his new line, Social Primer by K. Cooper Ray, at a beautiful private club in midtown Manhattan. Photographers and editors milled about the room, sipping scotch & sodas and poring over SP’s looks–artfully styled by Bruce Pask on a canvas of Dockers khakis, Lands’ End shirts, and Bass Weejuns & J.P. Crickets school slippers. (That is–the editors who got in–a few were stopped at the door for not adhering to the club’s tie-and-jacket dress code. Rules are rules.) Van’s own look of a Black Fleece madras blazer and knit tie was snapped by Christian Chensvold of Ivy Style. The ties retail for $125, bows at $75, but if you’re really looking to pledge the SP frat, pick up the red blazer (lined with a hunting scene) for $1,200.
