This is the sixth post in our series “Running Mates,” showcasing chic comrades of N&P for their sartorial smarts and their enterprising insight. This month, we feature blogger and Twitter whiz kid Proper Kid Problems.
After stomping divots at the Harriman Cup with social media powerhouse Proper Kid Problems–PKP for short–a collaboration between PKP and N&P was on our short list for this fall. We caught up with PKP last week on our turf for a late afternoon stroll. What started as a tongue-in-cheek Twitter account over a year ago, tweeting preppy perils (dubbed #ProperKidProblems; one such problem: “It’s pouring down rain and I don’t have my Bean Boots with me.”), has taken off. Fifty thousand followers later, PKP has become a full-fledged lifestyle brand, complete with a blog which peeks into the “The Proper Life” and markets his line of merchandise–t-shirts and monogrammed bow ties. Above all else, PKP is truly a gentleman. He graciously responds to his many followers, hosting “Open Talk” forums where you can ask him anything, from questions about the books he’s reading to advice on what to wear to a summer wedding. One caveat: you can’t ask him his name, and that secret is safe with us. We’re excited to see where PKP goes next–as are his legions of admirers of classic preppy style.
