Last Saturday in Palm Beach, the young and young at heart stepped out in style for the 2012 Red Cross Beach Bash at The Beach Club, sponsored by Lilly Pulitzer and the American Red Cross. Guests donned duds in accordance with the “Lilly or Louder” dress code, which included vibrant colors, bold prints, and–of course–Lilly dresses, pants, and blazers, running the gamut from vintage (aka borrowed from mom or dad’s closet) to as-yet-unseen spring 2013 Lilly looks. Guests drank festive Tito’s cocktails while dancing poolside next to live mermaids and inflatable sea urchin sculptures–all in keeping with the event’s “Under the Sea” theme.

The 28th Annual Harriman Cup

This past Saturday, mallet-wielding alumni from Yale and the University of Virginia faced off at the Meadowbrook Polo Club for the 28th annual Harriman Cup, a polo match benefiting the school’s polo teams. The event draws a preppy crowd from the New York area, and the outfits this year did not disappoint–even with a foul weather scare early on, which had some sporting Hunter boots and toting umbrellas. The men rocked madras, vintage Lilly pants, and grosgrain-taped jackets, while the ladies dazzled in vibrant floral prints and fascinators; both sexes seemed pleased for one last opportunity to break out their summer best before storing it away until next spring. Van and Karen Klopp (of What2WearWhere) awarded prizes for Best Outfit, Best Hat, and Best Tailgate (and a fourth was added on the fly for Best Dog, which went to the bow tie-clad pup pictured above); winners received gift bags with goodies from J. McLaughlin, Hudson Sutler, Knockaround, and Alton Lane.
